Meet the Animals
Alaya
Sharp albino boa · Boa constrictor
Blush, peach and a whole lot of sweet. Alaya is a female double dose red/purple pastel Sharp albino boa: shy at first, but as friendly as can be once she's comfortable.
The colors
Pastel on both sides
Sharp albino is an albino line with no black pigment at all. “Pastel” is a line-bred look with less black and cleaner, brighter color, and Alaya comes from red and purple pastel lines on both sides of her family. That's the “double dose” behind her soft blush-and-lilac glow.
Dinner time
Sweet… with a feisty side
Alaya is sweet, with a feisty side at dinner time when chicks and mice are on the menu. She can be shy, but once she's comfortable she's as friendly as can be.
Field notes
About boa constrictors
- Boas give birth to live babies instead of laying eggs, often around 25 at a time.
- Boa constrictors range from Mexico through Central and South America to Argentina.
- They're nonvenomous constrictors: they hold on and squeeze.
- With good care they can live 20–30 years, and sometimes even longer.
- Alaya was born, not hatched: boas give live birth.
